NASA has released images of a sample they collected from the Bennu asteroid.
The 510 meters big asteroid is believed to be around 4.6 billion-years-old, older than our solar system.
The sample which is under investigation in a special lab in Texas, landed on earth 17 days ago.
Sample Rich in Carbon & Minerals
After careful assessment of the sample, scientists were able to confirm the presence of carbon and other minerals.
The Interesting thing about the study is that it’ll reveal new information to scientists about the initial days of our solar system.
NASA’s OSIRIS-REx brought back around 250 grams of sample, which is enough to study, as per scientists.
Sample To Help Solve Big Questions
To make things clear, the recent study is not any usual NASA investigation.
The investigators involved in the study are trying to solve big questions about humanity’s existence.
“We’re trying to find out who we are, what we are, where we came from”, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said.
