Nine passengers onboard included six foreigners, but the identities are not disclosed at the moment.

The helicopter landed close to Gadoon village in the Galgaduud region due to a technical glitch, a UN memo seen by Al Jazeera said.

The memo said at least six passengers were captured by Al-Shabab terrorists, and one was killed when he tried to escape the captors.

Al-Shabab Terrorist

Al-Shabaab is a terrorist group affiliated with Al-Qaida and has carried out some of the deadliest attacks in Somalia’s history.

Throughout its 20-year insurgency, It has raised and burned villages to the ground without spearing anyone.

The US-backed Somali government recently initiated an intense military operation against the group.

The terrorist group still controls swathes of southern and central Somalia and is responsible for attacks in the capital, Mogadishu.
