First Formal Proceedings

The BBC reported that this is the first time the platform has come under legal scrutiny under the Digital Services Act (DSA).

European Digital commissioner Thierry Breton said in X post that they have opened formal infringement proceedings against X.

Breton said the platform has done nothing to be more transparent and counter illegal content.

X is Cooperating

Elon Musk-owned social media platform X announced that they are cooperating with the authorities.

The statement said it is essential that the current process remains outside the influence of politics.

“X is focused on creating a safe and inclusive environment for all users on our platform, while protecting freedom of expression”, it said.
